The foundation is already there
NJEA’s regional map already has clickable regions and a search field for regions, UniServ representatives and locals. The member landing experience brings together association information, resources, events, benefits and professional learning. ESP-focused content is present too. These are assets to build on.
Bring the next step closer
A map can connect those existing directory records with nearby events, member benefits and a chosen local. The opportunity is a shared view, rather than another separate destination. In the portfolio map, the geography is real and local activity is explicitly fictional.
Let the member set the starting point
A custodian, paraprofessional, secretary, bus driver, food service worker, security professional or technical specialist should see their own work reflected in the experience. Role-aware recommendations should be adjustable, with useful public content still easy to browse.
Enter once; publish where it belongs
OneNJEA can hold authoritative identities and affiliations. A governed local data layer can add event attendance and volunteered interests without replacing official records. WordPress can publish approved views through reusable blocks, while private contracts and member records remain protected at the asset and API level.
Make content ownership visible
A current resource needs an owner, review date, audience, access rule and a relationship to the version it replaces. An early audit can look at WordPress pages, media files, Sendy browser archives and search indexing without assuming a problem has already been proven.
Keep the communications lane clear
IS determines secure architecture and integration. Membership stewards authoritative records. Subject-matter teams bring expertise. Communications helps define what people should find, how it should read and how to know whether it worked.
